3-piece set of “Ribbon Cutlery” by Japanese architect Makoto Yamaguchi (b. 1972) – a divine rarity, no longer in production! Made from fine-grade stainless steel, each box contains a knife, fork, and spoon designed to mimic the effect of a ribbon when pinched between the fingers. Initially seen as a novelty, the cutlery is ergonomically designed for comfort. Approximately 193mm long, the knives, while not traditionally serrated, are impressively sharp. Released in Europe in 2006. Part of the 2006 initiative launched at 100% Design in London, the Ribbon Cutlery by Makoto Yamaguchi is a result of the Ribbon Project by Inoue Ribbon Industries in Japan. The design captures the essence of a ribbon using materials like ceramic, stainless steel, and wood. These are the last 3 remaining boxes, preserved as samples by the UK representative. Though new/unused, some boxes may show minor shelf wear.
